What are your top 3 favourite parties?
- Pride & Prejudice - Who doesn't love Mr Darcy! I love the idea of being transported to a completely different time!
- Fame - I have a love for this musical because of doing the show a few times, great songs!
- Grease - One of my favourite films and a brilliant excuse for everyone to bring out their inner ‘cheese’.
What do you like about teaching hen parties in Cheltenham?
Coaching hen parties is fantastic; I absolutely love it! It’s a chance for people of all ages to show off, surprise all their friends and generally have a brilliant time.
They leave with a whole new repertoire of moves and routines that they can amaze everyone in clubs and the wedding with!! My favourite moments are always when the party is a surprise for the hen and watching her excitement as we reveal what she’s going to be doing for the next hour and a half. Priceless! Seeing all the different costumes from wigs to light up skirts is always fun as well! I especially love it when the girls doing the Pride & Prejudice theme go all out with long dresses!
What styles of dance do you do?
I specialise in ballet, modern, tap and jazz but I also love exploring new types of dance and have studied burlesque and salsa. I trained to become a dance teacher and have ISTD qualifications in ballet, modern & tap. I currently do a mixture of performance work, teaching and choreography. I love musical theatre and have done lots of dance work with shows & pantos in and around Cheltenham. I also work at the in-house dance school at the theatre, running musical theatre workshops for children. But my passion is choreography. It is always evolving and it is so creative. I love choreographing a piece and then working with the dancers to develop it. One of the things I love about teaching hen parties is developing the choreography to suit the group so it is lots of fun & really personal. You never know what the group is going to be like or how much dance experience they have so you always have to adapt the party. Plus, I love it when groups chip in with fun ideas or dance moves and I try to incorporate them into the routines.
Who are your dance inspirations?
Because of my ballet side, Darcey Bussell has always been a big inspiration for me... I just had the biggest grin for the whole time when I met her! She has managed to bring Ballet to many people who may never have chosen to watch or participate in it. Every girl dreams of having her beautiful, effortless and graceful style.
