How did you become a dance teacher?
I have always had a passion for dance and I performed with the Royal Ballet at the Bath Theatre Royal when I was young which got me hooked. My dance background includes Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz.
I studied dance and musical theatre at Bodywork Performing Arts School in Bath and then at Dance Academy South West. I was especially inspired by one of my teachers Yvonne Evans (Voyd) now principle of Liberatus School of Performing Arts, who was in Cats and an assistant to Arlene Phillips in Hot Gossip and Starlight Express. I went on to take dance teaching qualifications in Modern dance and Cheerleading. In addition to teaching dance hen parties with The Cheerleading Company, I teach Street dance lessons to children aged 6-16. I love teaching dance classes, especially the hen parties because they are always so enthusiastic and I love being able to share my passion for dance with the hen groups.
What do you love most about being a hen party teacher in Bath?
I have been teaching hen parties in Bath and Bristol for The Cheerleading Company for 6 years now and I love it!! It’s great fun; I love meeting different people who are enthusiastic and appreciate the experience of learning dance routines on their hen dos. Each hen party is different with a variety of dance styles and lifts which adds to the fun. It is so rewarding to think that you are contributing towards someone’s wedding celebration. We often get emails from the groups saying how much they enjoyed the dance experience and that it contributed to making their hen weekend extra special. It is so lovely to get recognised in this way!
